About The Migrant FilmWorkers
With a core team, who has worked together for many years on a variety of projects, The Migrant FilmWorkers are ready to help you create a well synchronized, cohesive crew for your next production.
As the name Migrant FilmWorkers implies, we have shot literally all around the globe and have made location work one of our specialties. The name was coined back in the seventies as we followed a group of Farmworkers up and down the state of California for a documentary film, although we continued to operate as Jim Mathers Video/Films, Inc., until the late nineties when James & Charlene Mathers spent a year on location in Ireland.
Besides Europe and The Americas recent locations have taken us to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, India, Thailand, New Zealand, Costa
Rica, and Peru. . We went from filming a feature in Vermont during one of the worst winter blizzards of the decade to shooting a documentary in the sweltering summer of Southern Mexico.
After the tragedies of 2001, travel with crew and equipment has become even more of an art, and the experience we have gleaned over these many years has proved invaluable. Also of great value is the ability to assess which vital crew members need to be brought to distant locations and what positions can be filled with local talent.
Our background is firmly planted in film production, but we enthusiastically embrace the digital tools that are now available. We like to say we shoot Filmstyle digital, applying the best of motion picture technique to digital production. So, whether you are shooting film or digital, at home or abroad, you can count on The Migrant FilmWorkers to provide the best crews available anywhere in the world.
